Spring 2012 Enrollment Begins this Friday!

CVCC IS GOING GREEN!! Central Virginia Community College is saving trees and the environment by eliminating our printed class schedule. Fall 2011 Graduates

If you will be completing your program requirements this semester the deadline to apply for graduation is Wednesday, November 30th. You may complete an application for graduation in the Admissions & Records office or apply at our website:
To check your degree progress, log into the Student Information System using your MyCVCC account, Select Student Center and you will see the link for Degree Progress. You may also schedule an appointment with an Academic Counselor at (434) 832-7800 to see if you have met your program requirements to graduate.

Transfer Fair September 14, 2011

Are you thinking about transferring to a four year school? Then plan on attending the Transfer Fair this Wednesday, September 14th from 12:00-1:30 in the Student Center. 45 schools are scheduled to be represented. There will be local schools and some out of state schools as well. Remember it is never to early to start talking to schools you may want to transfer to. Transferring is a process, not an event.

Altavista Center's Summer Hours

The CVCC Altavista Center’s Summer hours are adjusted each summer according to its evening classes. If classes are held in the evening, the Center is open.

For the Summer 2011 hours, the Center is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Center is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. On Fridays, the Center closes at 12 noon.

Placement testing for math and English classes is available daily. However, students should allow 2 ½ hours for the complete exam and if coming in the evening, schedule testing times according to closing times.

A computer lab is available for student use and to the general public when no classes are scheduled in that lab; however, priority is given to CVCC students.

Students who are interested in enrolling for the fall semester are encouraged to seek academic advisement early at the Center at the Altavista Office Park. The Center advises student whether they attend the main campus or the Altavista Center, accepts payment for all classes and provides financial information.

CVCC Appomattox Center

CVCC Appomattox Center

The CVCC Appomattox Center offers day and evening programs in credit and non-credit modes and specialized training in workforce development for business and industry. Delivery systems include traditional classroom instruction as well as Web-based/Internet courses, and compressed video (interactive television). The Appomattox Center, located in the Carver-Price Educational Complex on Business 460, opened in 2007.
An academic advisor is on-site and available on an appointment basis to assist with general academic advising as well as program planning and scheduling of classes.
The complete COMPASS test is available at the Appomattox Center on an appointment basis during the hours of operation (allow at least two and a half hours). Students should call the Center to schedule an appointment and for appropriate testing fees.
The computer lab is available to the public at times when no classes are scheduled in the lab. Priority is given to CVCC students during these open times.

CVCC Appomattox Center hours are 8:00-5:00, Monday through Thursday and 8:00-12:00 noon on Friday. The Center is open evenings for scheduled classes and appointments. Phone: (434) 832-7200.

Federal Loans now available at CVCC

CVCC will start participating in the Direct Student Loan Program this fall.

Central Virginia Community College participates exclusively in the Federal Direct Student Loan Program which includes Subsidized Student Loans, Unsubsidized Student Loans, and Parent Loans. The Federal government is the lender in the Direct Student Loan Program. Students and parents interested in federal student and/or parent loans will be required to apply through the Direct Student Loan Program and complete master promissory notes. Students will also be required to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must be 18 years or older to apply for a student loan.

CVCC Amherst Center Hours

The CVCC Amherst Center in Amherst, VA is currently operating on their Summer schedule. Summer lobby hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to Noon. An Academic Counselor is available during these operating hours to provide assistance with admission, course selection, financial aid, and payment questions. Compass Placement Testing is available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00pm and Fri from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The CVCC Amherst Center is located at 200 Richmond Highway, Mt. Bedford Center Hours

CVCC Bedford Center Summer Information

Summer operating hours for the CVCC Bedford Center are from 8 am – 5 pm on Monday – Thursday and 8 am – 12 pm on Friday from now until August 11. Counselors will be available during these hours to offer admissions and enrollment assistance, financial aid information, degree and transfer advising and payment processing. It is best to schedule an appointment to see a counselor, however walk-ins will be seen on a first come/first served basis. Compass placement testing for Math and English is available from 8 am – 3 pm on Monday –Thursday and 8 am – 10 am on Friday. No appointment is needed to take the compass test. Important Dates

Inclement Weather Policy

Below is the impact of various types of closings or delays for CVCC:

Impact Of A Two-Hour Delay
For Students:All morning classes scheduled to begin PRIOR TO 10:00 a.m. are cancelled. All classes scheduled to begin AT OR AFTER 10:00 a.m. will meet as scheduled.

For Faculty/Staff:Faculty should report and be prepared to teach any classes scheduled to begin at or after 10:00 a.m. or arrive two hours after their normal arrival time (which ever is earlier). Administrators/staff should report to work two hours after their normal arrival time.

Impact Of Day Classes CancelledClasses scheduled to begin prior to 5:00 p.m. are cancelled.

Impact Of Night/Evening Classes CancelledClasses scheduled to begin at or after 5:00 p.m. are cancelled.
