Tips for a Successful Semester

Welcome to the 2nd week of the Fall 2013 semester. Here are some helpful tips that will help you as you settle into your new schedule.

1.Review your Syllabus carefully. Keep it in a safe place where you can access it easily. Be sure to record your test dates and project due dates on a personal calendar. Here are some great online calendars for you to check out. Google Calendar , Zoho Calendar, Cozy Family Calendar . Visit Blackboard to review any lecture notes or additional information your instructor might want you to know about the class.

2.Know important deadlines for your courses. This includes the drop and withdrawal date and when your final exams are. Review and print out the Fall 2013 Syllabus Attachment

3.Communicate with your Professors. If you have a question or need clarification on a topic or assignment don’t hesitate to ask them. Your professors will have office hours listed on your syllabus as well as their email. Your instructors are there to help you, they want you to be successful in their class.

4.Develop your Study Schedule now. The semester just began but you will see that time goes by quickly and the material that is being covered in your classes will increase. By developing a study schedule now will help you later in the semester. When studying try to find a quiet, distraction free environment that will allow you to concentrate.

5.Get Involved. School is about academics but it is also about connecting with the CVCC community. Be sure to look for opportunities to get involved on campus, it could be with a club or organization. Stay connected to CVCC social media channels to keep up to date and involved with activities on campus. Facebook Twitter, YouTube
