Do You Need Help Understanding your Course Syllabus?

Today's HELP Workshop will cover everything you need to know about course Syllabi.

Lorna Nelson, CVCC English Instructor, will present on why it is important to read and kno what is within your syllabus.

The Drop Deadline for 16 week courses is Today, September 3rd

Today, September 3rd, is the last day to drop a 16 week course with a refund.

If you feel that you need to drop a course, please be sure to drop the course in the Admissions and Records office before 5pm. You can also drop a course through your "MyCVCC" account in the Student Information System. If you drop a course through the Student Student Information system, be sure to print a copy of your schedule to verify the drop was processed.

If you are on financial aid dropping a course could affect your aid for this semester so it is very important you check with a Financial Aid Counselor before making any changes to your schedule after the semester has begun.

Tips for a Successful Semester

Welcome to the 2nd week of the Fall 2013 semester. Here are some helpful tips that will help you as you settle into your new schedule.

1.Review your Syllabus carefully. Keep it in a safe place where you can access it easily. Be sure to record your test dates and project due dates on a personal calendar. Here are some great online calendars for you to check out. Google Calendar , Zoho Calendar, Cozy Family Calendar . Visit Blackboard to review any lecture notes or additional information your instructor might want you to know about the class.

2.Know important deadlines for your courses. This includes the drop and withdrawal date and when your final exams are. Review and print out the Fall 2013 Syllabus Attachment

3.Communicate with your Professors. If you have a question or need clarification on a topic or assignment don’t hesitate to ask them. Your professors will have office hours listed on your syllabus as well as their email. Your instructors are there to help you, they want you to be successful in their class.

4.Develop your Study Schedule now. The semester just began but you will see that time goes by quickly and the material that is being covered in your classes will increase. By developing a study schedule now will help you later in the semester. When studying try to find a quiet, distraction free environment that will allow you to concentrate.

5.Get Involved. School is about academics but it is also about connecting with the CVCC community. Be sure to look for opportunities to get involved on campus, it could be with a club or organization. Counseling Office Hours

The Fall 2013 semester is about to begin. 16 week and 1st 8 week classes start Monday August 19th. It isn't too late to sign up! Come in and meet with a Counselor during our Walk-In hours Monday-Thursday form 8-7pm and Friday 8-5pm. We will also be open this Saturday, August 17th from 10-2pm.

First Five Week Summer Course Deadline to Withdraw is June 7th

If you are taking a summer course. Please keep the withdrawal and drop dates in mind. They can be found on the CVCC website under Academic Calendar

The deadline to withdraw from a 1st 5 week course is this Friday, June 7th. The last day to withdraw from a 10 week course is Monday, July 1st.

1st 5 week and 10 week Summer Session starts Monday!

It is not too late to get signed up for a summer class at CVCC.

The 1st 5 week and 10 week session starts Monday May 20th. Come in and see a counselor today, Friday May 17th from 8-5 to get signed up.
